In December 2007, Marcelo Tezeli (guitar e vocals), Marcelo Armoa (bass) e Sandro Moreno (drums) united their talents to create the band Midnight Purple. The group promotes itself through the internet and is presently one of the 50 most popular rock bands in the world, according to the internal ratings of the Reverb Nation website.
The band from Brasil were courageous enough to record a number of its own tracks in English showing the international music community rock produced in the southern hemisphere. Its first album entitled “Midnight Purple” was concluded in July, 2008. The music was produced in its entirety in the city of Campo Grande, the capital of Mato Grosso do Sul, a state located at a distance from the large Brazilian cities.
Players from the band define their sound as being grassroots rock ‘n’ roll, created with energy and simplicity. Each track reveals the influence from a variety of musicians such as the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Genesis and other rock bands from the 60’s and 70’s. The music deals with common everyday themes and “speak” to all ages.
Marcelo Tezeli e Marcelo Armoa both have over 15 years of musical experience and have played together for 7 years. They recorded two records with the now extinct band Vatican 69, and had the participation of Paulo Calasans, a renown brazilian producer and musician who has worked with artists such as Djavan, Gilberto Gil, Gal Costa and Cássia Eller.
Sandro Moreno, on the other hand, has been a musician for over 10 years and has the experience of having worked with various artists from Brazil. In December, 2007 the band decided to turn to the international market and invited the drummer Sandro Moreno to record four musical tracks. Within a few months, they formed Midnight Purple.
Midnight Purple can been seen and heard over the following sites: Reverb Nation, MySpace, Last.fm and Twitter.
